The 2023 Australian Open technically begins Monday, Jan. 16 and runs through the end of the month, with the women’s and men’s finals on Saturday, Jan. 28 and Sunday, Jan. 29, respectively. (The time difference to the United States means Day 1 will be Sunday, Jan. 15.)

Players will compete for a historically high prize pool of AU$76.5 million at this year’s tournament—an increase of over two million from last year’s winnings. The seeds heading into the January tournament were announced Wednesday: reigning champion Rafael Nadal is ranked No. 1 for the men, while world No. 1 Iga Świątek is in the top sport for the women. Świątek is the favorite to win the women’s (+200), while Novak Djokovic (-118) is favored to edge out Nadal (+1100) as outright winner for the men. If Djokovic can win in Australia this month—a year after being deported from the country—he will tie the men’s record for grand slam titles, currently set by Nadal at 22.

Exact matchup schedules will be released at approximately 6 p.m. AEDT on the day before play. Here is an overview of the key dates to look forward to for each round of the tournament.
